Bandra Worli Sea Link Facts
Twin continuous concrete box girder bridge sections are included for traffic in each direction.
Each bridge section – paused part except on cable – is supported on piers usually located 50 meters apart.
Each section is for four lanes of traffic with concrete barriers and the service side runs from one side.
The project starts from the interchange at Mahim (i.e. the Western Express Highway and the intersection of Swami Vivekananda Marg in Bandra) and connects from Worli to Worli with a total length of 5.6 km for the entire project.
A cloverleaf interchange at the Mahim intersection and a flyover at the Lovegrove intersection have been proposed as part of the project to increase rapid and safe traffic dispersal.

- The bridge has 8 lanes, two of which are dedicated to buses.
- Steel cables have been used to support various structures of the bridge.
- The height of the Bandra-Worli sea link is 63 times the height of Qutub Minar.
- 90,000 tonnes of cement have been used in all which can easily construct five buildings of 10 stories each.
- The total power consumption of Marine Link is 1000KW or 1MW per day.
- Marine Link has ultra-modern automated system for monitoring traffic, monitoring, communication, instrumentation, emergency assistance etc.
- The bridge also has its own in-house diesel generator to meet critical emergency power requirements for monitoring and monitoring and communications equipment.

Part 3 – South End Approach Structure with Mainly Precast Segmal Construction
Part I – North End Approach Structure
- Usually arranged in units of six continuous intervals of 50 meters each.
- Expansion joints are provided at the end of each unit.
- Provision of access ramp to connect with Bandstand Road. The arrangement of spans for this structure provides for in-situ spans.
- Designed according to IRC code.
- Specifications conforming to the IRC standard with supplemental specifications covering particular items.
- The sub-structure consists of a 1.5 m diameter drilled pile, with pile caps and some piers near Worli socketed directly into the rock.
- Bridge bearings are of support disc and pot type. Longitudinal and lateral support is provided at various locations along the unit to limit displacement.

PART-II CABLE STEDED BRIDGE
- The cable is 600 meters in total length between extension joints
- There are two 250 m cable supported main spans from 50 m conventional approach spans.
- The cable spacing along the bridge deck is 6.0 m.

Part – III clockwise end structure
- The north end approach in the construction system is similar to the structure, which consists of span concrete box girder sections.
- Similar to the broad end of the northern end, access ramps are provided to extend to the western freeway i.e. Nariman Point.
- Approximately 160 stay cables required for cable – with cable lengths paused on the Worli channel ranging from about 30 meters to about 80 meters maximum.
